Ralph P. Franco, Jr.
Son of a Supreme Court Justice, veteran of thousands of cases, admitted to the United States Supreme Court - a trial attorney whose reverence for the law is a family inheritance.
The judge’s son.
Ralph P. Franco, Jr. grew up watching his father run a courtroom - the Honorable Ralph P. Franco, retired Justice of the Nassau County Supreme Court. Some lawyers learn reverence for the law in school; he learned it at the dinner table. Hofstra first, then a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, admitted in 1995 - and he has been trying cases ever since.
Thousands of cases’ worth of trial work.
The career started at a Long Island defense firm and ran through a Bronx plaintiff’s practice - thousands of personal injury and medical malpractice matters, tried rather than filed away. The appellate record runs just as deep: arguments in the First and Second Departments of the Appellate Division and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the Second Circuit, and the State of New York.
Both sides of the caption.
Mr. Franco also serves as Special Prosecutor for the Incorporated Village of Freeport - which means when he defends, he knows exactly how the other table thinks. At this firm his practice is what it has always been: trial work, state and federal, prepared like the verdict depends on it. Because it does.
How Ralph works.
A trial attorney’s default is the courtroom, not the conference room. Every file is prepared with a jury in mind from the first day - which is precisely what makes the government negotiate.
He argues appeals as well as trials - so the record gets built at trial with the next court already in mind. Objections preserved, issues framed, nothing waived.
As a sitting Special Prosecutor, he has made the government’s moves himself. When he defends, he sees the play before it happens.
