First and foremost, do not physically interfere with the agents or attempt to destroy, hide, or move any documents or devices — obstruction under 18 U.S.C. § 1519 carries up to 20 years in prison. You have the right to remain silent under the Fifth Amendment, so politely decline to answer any questions and immediately call a federal defense attorney. Ask to see the search warrant and carefully note its scope — agents can only search areas and seize items specifically described in the warrant as authorized under the Fourth Amendment and Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 41.
