THE BEST LAWYER ANYONE COULD ASK FOR.

The BEST LAWYER ANYONE COULD ASK FOR!!! Todd changed our lives! He’s not JUST a lawyer representing us for a case. Todd and his office have become Family. When we entered his office in August of 2022, we entered with such anxiety, uncertainty, and so much stress. Honestly we were very lost. My husband and I felt alone. How could a lawyer who didn’t know us, know our family, know our background represents us, When this could change our lives for the next 5-7years that my husband was facing in Federal jail. By the time our free consultation was over with Todd, we left his office at ease. All our questions were answered and we had a sense of relief.

Los Angeles Fourth Time DUI

Los Angeles Fourth Time DUI

Getting charged with a fourth DUI offense in Los Angeles can lead to some pretty serious consequences. I know, getting arrested and going through the court process is super stressful. But don’t worry, this article will break it all down for you so you know what to expect. I got your back!

Let’s start with the basics. In California, a fourth DUI charge within 10 years is usually filed as a felony. That means it’s a much more serious crime than a misdemeanor DUI. The prosecutor has the option to charge it as either[1], but they’ll almost always go for the felony with a fourth offense.

So what happens if you’re convicted of a felony DUI? Well, first off, you’re looking at a mandatory minimum of 120 days in county jail. That’s right – no getting out of jail time with a fourth offense. The judge does have the option to lower the jail sentence to 90 days, but don’t count on it[4].

You’ll also get slapped with a fine between $1,800 and $5,000. And that’s not even including all the other fees they’ll tack on, like penalty assessments and restitution fines. We’re talking thousands more dollars out of pocket[5].

Plus, the DMV will revoke your license for 4 years. No exceptions. You’ll have to file a SR-22 insurance form and enter a DUI program for 3 years if you want any chance of getting your license back after the revocation period. Good luck getting to work or school without a car for 4 years! [4]

But wait, there’s more! The court will also make you install an ignition interlock device in your car for 5 years. This annoying little machine makes you blow into a breathalyzer before you can start your car. And if you get caught driving without one, that’s another charge added on[6].

Let’s talk about jail time again. With a 4th DUI, prosecutors often recommend substantial jail sentences. We’re talking like 16 months or more. The judge has a lot of discretion, but don’t expect to get off easy. However, a good DUI lawyer may be able to negotiate alternative sentencing, like in-patient rehab instead of jail. There are options, so don’t lose hope! [2]

Your criminal record will also take a big hit. A felony DUI conviction stays on your record permanently and can affect job, housing, and other opportunities for years to come. Talk about a headache!

So in summary, a 4th DUI conviction can really turn your life upside down. The consequences are severe. But working with an experienced DUI attorney can help reduce charges and penalties. A good lawyer knows all the defenses and alternative options to explore.

For example, they may argue the stop was unlawful, or the chemical test was inaccurate. There are so many ways to fight a DUI charge. A lawyer can also negotiate with the prosecutor for a better deal, like pleading to a misdemeanor or getting rehab instead of jail time. Don’t just take whatever the court gives you – fight back!

Everyone makes mistakes. You don’t deserve to have your life ruined over a 4th DUI. But you have to be smart and proactive. Talk to a lawyer right away after an arrest. Listen to their advice and let them handle negotiations with the courts. It’s your best shot at minimizing damages.

And look – if you’ve gotten more than 3 DUIs, you should also think about getting help. Maybe it’s time to address an addiction or mental health issue that’s leading to poor choices. Take care of yourself, get the support you need, and put this behind you. You can get your life back on track!

But for now, just focus on finding a great DUI attorney. Keep your head up and take it one step at a time. Don’t panic and do something stupid that will make matters worse. Be patient and let the legal process play out. You’ll get through this!
