The United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas is one of four federal judicial districts in Texas. It covers a large portion of the northern part of the state and includes several major cities.
The Northern District of Texas encompasses 100 counties and is divided into seven divisions: Abilene, Amarillo, Dallas, Fort Worth, Lubbock, San Angelo, and Wichita Falls. Major cities within the district include Dallas, Fort Worth, Lubbock, and Amarillo. The district covers a broad area stretching from the Oklahoma border down to just north of Austin and west to the New Mexico border.
The Northern District of Texas has 12 authorized judgeships. In addition to the district judges, there are several magistrate judges who assist with the court’s workload.
