Is SBG Funding Legitimate? 5 Places the Public Record Answers

The corporate record answers first: SBG Funding is Mission Capital LLC, in business since March 21, 2017. BBB accredits it with an A rating and 278 reviews averaging 4.94. No federal litigation names it as a defendant. Its licensing is the one place the record is silent.

If you are asking whether SBG Funding is legitimate, the public record suggests “yes, an established business.” The Better Business Bureau gives SBG Funding a BBB A rating. And it has been a BBB Accredited Business since 2017. That does not mean every promise is a good deal, or the offer you have is legit. If you have never heard of SBG Funding before you got a pitch to fund you, there is no reason to take any person’s word at face value. For a borrower, the checks before signing are fast, the same five places, and about ten minutes.

1. Start with the BBB profile

See the BBB A rating for SBG Funding. Note when it got accreditation: November 16, 2017. The A rating is different than a review. There may be other reviews of the business on the Internet. Don’t just look at the first couple of search results. Look at the company name, address, contact information, and compare that to the individual, telephone number, email address of the deal you are considering. But that is not enough. Make a few more checks before doing any business.

2. Read the complaints themselves

The number of complaints for SBG Funding over the past three years is four. You should read all of them before making any decision. Of course, it is reasonable to accept that any business working with significant numbers of customers will have some complaints. See if the complaint is “out of the box,” or if it resonates with the deal in front of you. One wrote in January 2026 that a stranger tried to get a loan using another person’s name. A June 2025 complaint described months of nonstop texts and emails. Imposters will often copy an established business name to try to trick people, so you should ask for the representative’s name and telephone number, and call the number you find yourself.

3. Check the advertised price

Always, always look at what is advertised and compare it to what is offered you. LendingTree’s review of SBG Funding reports that it advertises term loans from 1.00% per month. That is an interest rate, not an APR. Ask in advance of signing for the total cost, including the total principal, total interest and fees, and the total payback in dollars. In New York, laws also changed in August 2023. If your business is in New York and you are considering a business loan of $2.5 million or less, or a merchant cash advance, and the lender or merchant cash advance provider doesn’t show the cost on paper, ask why. New York law now requires it.

4. Search the UCC filings

Use the New York Department of State UCC Public Inquiry System to check liens against the business. It has all financing statements and federal tax lien notices filed with the state. Anyone can search to see who files against a business. You will see who else has a claim on your business, and if SBG Funding files a UCC financing statement.

5. Look for lawsuits

Federal courts also publish online on PACER. PACER federal court records cost $0.10 per page, but fees are waived if you spend $30 or less in a quarter. Look for the name of the company, combined with terms like “scam,” “lawsuit,” or “complaint.” Then look for patterns. Do lawsuits show up against the same company for the same reasons? And do you see official action, or just private lawsuits by individual claimants? No suit is proof the business is bad. However, it is more information, and you can use it with all the other information you find.

In January 2025 the New York Attorney General announced a $1.065 billion judgment against MCA company Yellowstone Capital for high-interest loans disguised as merchant cash advances. That action has nothing to do with SBG Funding. It shows what official action looks like.

The Funder Directly or a Broker

Ask if the offer is from the funder directly or a broker. Ask which funder wires money, and get the funder’s contact information. “Brokered loans” is not bad. But the broker should disclose that. Get the written offer, and take 48 hours to read it. No legitimate funder will ask you to wire a fee before they wire the funding. But scammers will try to make their offer sound like a good deal and not want you to have time to think about it.

Already Caught in a Bad Deal

If you are already caught in a bad deal, talk to your bank about stopping automatic payments. See your business attorney before you default. A lawyer can review your agreement and your legal rights and options. Then complain to the FTC, your state attorney general, and if imposter using other company name, complain to the Internet Crime Complaint Center, IC3. Even if your company is in trouble, don’t pay a debt relief company up front.

A free contract review costs nothing and takes a day or two. Call (888) 837-7053, or send the agreements to Delancey Street for a straight read on your options.
